CLINICS

Antenatal Clinic
Tuesday 2.00 - 3.45pm at Buckden for all patients from both sites.

All patients are seen by the midwife at the clinics in Buckden by appointment. Please leave your details with the reception desk of your local surgery and these shall be given to the midwives.

Baby Clinic
Buckden patients - Wednesday 2.00 - 4.00pm . Please note the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month are by appointment only. On the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays there is a walk-in clinic.

Little Paxton patients - First Friday of the month 10.00-11.30am - turn up on the day.

The baby clinics are run by the health visitor for child developmental checks and allow an opportunity to discuss other problems eg sleeping, feeding and child health worries. A nurse will perform the immunisations during this clinic at the Buckden site, however at Little Paxton they are done on a different day. All the doctors also see babies for child health surveillance checks and are happy to discuss any health concerns. To contact the health visitor please call your surgery reception and leave a message and she will get in contact with you.

Respiratory Clinic
Buckden - Currently being re-organised. Speak to your doctor to discuss your treatment reviews.

Little Paxton - Patients are seen by Sharon Libby on an 'as required' basis.

Diabetic Clinic
Buckden - By arranged appointment with Dr Goodwin or Dr Leonard.

Little Paxton - By arranged appointment with Linda Walton.

Ask at reception for details. Diabetic patients have a comprehensive review annually.

Family Planning Clinic
Contraceptive care is provided by all the doctors during normal surgery hours at both sites.

Minor Surgery
Provided for all patients from the Buckden surgery premises.

Dr Fargnoli carries out all minor surgical procedures by appointment, usually on a Friday afternoon. He also oversees cryoclinic (liquid nitrogen freezing) of warts and skin lesions which is carried out by one of our nurses.

Dermatology Clinics
These are run on mainly on Tuesdays all day but also Monday afternoons, Wednesdays and Fridays. They are for patients not attached to the practice. Your doctor may well refer you to these clinics if necessary for an opinion, particularly if you have difficult dermatology problems or need special medication. The clinics are overseen and run by Dr Fargnoli as well as a team of Practitioners with a special interest in minor surgery which include Dr Rea and Dr Lasman from the Alconbury/Brampton Surgeries, as well as dermatology consultants which include Dr Vorster and Dr IJsselmuiden. We also run clinics from Little Paxton, St Ives, Warboys and Huntingdon. We are introducing a skin lesion assessment clinic for moles, using a computerised sciascope device to look at moles carefully.

Private Medical Examinations
The doctors are happy to carry out medicals eg for insurance and driving licence, by appointment at both sites. Please telephone the surgery for an appointment. Do ask at reception for the charges for these services.

Travel Immunisations/Vaccinations
These are provided at both sites.
Please make an appointment well in advance of your holiday to ensure adequate cover. A travel form can be filled out and returned to the reception desk. The receptionists will be happy to advise you on the next stage. A charge will be made for certain immunisations and vaccinations which are not covered by the NHS. A list of these charges is held at reception. A travel form needs to be collected, completed and returned well before your appointment.

Flu Vaccination/Pneumovax
An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes and residents of nursing and rest homes. Pneumonia vaccinations are also included in certain age groups and for patients at risk.

Please contact the reception staff in October for details of the vaccination dates and to make an appointment. If you are unable to attend the surgery, a home visit will be arranged to undertake this facility.

Yellow Fever Vaccinations
The Buckden surgery is now an authorized Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre.
