TRAINING

We have now been formally approved as a training practice. This means that we will be involved in training qualified doctors who want to become GPs. Dr Leonard has been interested in the idea of becoming a trainer for new GPs for the last 2 years. She did a postgraduate certificate in medical education last year, which involved a lot of reading, as well as two 8000 word essays and some practical experience. Once the course was completed we had to gain approval from the deanery to become a training practice; this involved the practice being scrutinised for half a day by team of 5 people. Dr Fargnoli is now also planning to become an associate trainer and all the GPs have agreed to be involved in looking after GPs in training.

As a practice, we very much enjoyed our experience training medical students and wish to now involve training new doctors to be come GPs.
