Dispensary
All medicines can be dispensed from Buckden surgery to patients living more than one mile from a pharmacy.
The Health Service Regulations on this matter are very strict and this service can only be offered to those patients who register as dispensing when they join the practice or move house. For further information, please telephone the surgery and a member of our dispensary staff will be pleased to answer your enquiries. Non-dispensing patients who have multiple medical problems with disabilities can get special permission to have their medication dispensed to them from the surgery; please enquire at the dispensary.
Delivery Service
We offer a delivery service for patients who are unable to collect their medication from us directly.
You must be very frail or housebound, to be eligible for home delivery of medication. We have had to narrow our delivery criteria in view of the squeeze on the NHS resources and impact on our dispensary. If you meet the above criteria and wish to have your repeat medications managed and delivered by us, please ask for a delivery consent form. Once completed please return the form to Dispensary.
If you do not meet the above criteria and wish to be considered for this service, please ask for a consent form to complete and return it stating your reasons why. These then will be forwarded to your GP for consideration.
If no-one is at home when we attempt to deliver your medicines, our delivery person will leave a card/note inviting you to contact us to arrange a further delivery date or collection of your medicines from the dispensary or dispensing machine. It is your responsibility to arrange a second collection date.
The practice reserves the right to withdraw the service to patients who are repeatedly not at home to receive their medicines. The practice may contact those patients living furthest from the Surgery to agree a single mutually acceptable delivery day.
24 hour Dispensing/Medication collection machine
We now have a 24 hour dispensing machine at Buckden. Presuming you have pre-paid for medication or are exempt for payment, we are able to put medication into the machine to be collected 24 hours a day / 7 days a week at your convenience.
